Frequently asked questions...
Do I need a referral?
Anyone can self refer to the practice, just contact us to make an appointment. If you are under a GP or consultant and want us to keep them informed of your progress, just let us know and we’ll happily do that for you.
We accept BUPA and other major private health insurers. You will need to obtain an authorisation code prior to attending. You will also need to provide us with your membership and authorisation number so that we can directly invoice your insurer meaning you have a seamless experience.
In some cases you may not have been authorised enough treatment sessions to complete your recovery, in this instance we will liaise with the insurer on your behalf to try and obtain further funded treatment. Depending on your policy you may have an excess to pay, this needs to be paid to us directly and we can discuss the most convenient way to make this payment.
*please note each insurer has their own rules which we have to comply with however, we will always do what we can to reduce any burden on you.
What to expect
On your first visit you will be assessed. This is a mixture of questions about the problem (like how it happened, how long ago, is it getting worse) and hands on physical testing. This is required with each new problem even if you have previously been to the clinic for something similar.
We endeavor to start treatment in that first session so that you walk out feeling better than when you walked in. After the assessment we will try and give you an idea of how many sessions are needed to fix the problem and how many weeks it will take until you are back to normal.
Our treatment sessions usually combine hands on treatment, education and exercises as appropriate.
What should I wear?
It varies depending on what the problem is but you should be prepared to undress to your underwear in some cases. If this poses a problem for you let us know in advance and we can make some recommendations so that you get the most out of your session whilst feeling completely comfortable and at ease.
How much does it cost?
Costs vary depending on the problem but as a general rule we average 4-6 treatment sessions at a costs of around £250 (average physio session £54). If you would like to have as close an estimate as possible please let our receptionists know and they will organise a call back from a physiotherapists who can tell the normal recovery periods and amount of treatment required for your problem. However, please note every person is different and until you have been properly assessed in person it is very difficult to be accurate with our predictions.
The important thing is that everyday we see people returning to their everyday lives pain free and usually for the same price as a call out from a tradesman... and we think your long-term health is more important than a replaceable washing machine!
Cancellation Policy
If for any reason you cannot make your appointment there is no cancellation charge unless it is within 24 hours of your time slot. In that scenario we have to charge the full cost of the session. We gain no pleasure from charging for work that hasn’t been done and as such we ask you give us as much notice as possible.
